San Diego County Fair, ¡Pruebala!

Es ese tiempo otra vez.

Like every summer, San Diegans flock to the Del Mar Fair Grounds…er, County Fairgrounds to eat disgustingly good food, ride sketchy-mechanisms and shop for things the live-infomercials convince us that we need. Oh y las vacas, and puerquitos too—plus muchas novedades that you may not be aware of yet.

Regresando a el Del Mar Fairgrounds del Friday, June 11 – Monday, July 5. Este año, the Fair will celebrate food with its theme, “Taste the Fun” o ‘Pruebala’ — not just the food that fairs are famous for, pero tambien the food that is part of our lives each and every day, ¿chido no?

Here are some money saving tips and tricks, pa’que te diviertas without going broke; as well as concerts that will have you saying “¡ay, ay, ay!”

Lo Basico: Tickets & Times

Adult tickets $13, Viejitos over 62 años $7.00

Los chamacos under 12 años, $7.00

Kiddies under 5 are completamente GRATIS!

Abierto de 11-11, and approximately midnight el Friday y Sabado.

Best Pass Ever: You can pay 22 bucks for an unlimited pass. It’s called el MEJOR PASE DEL MUNDO el Best Pass Ever ya esta disponible pero you gotta buy it before the 10^th.

Primos from TJ: Las tiendas Oxxo de Tijuana, Tecate, Rosarito y Ensenada tienen cupones de mitad de precio en todos los boletos, so grab one before la linea.

Musica en vivo

Sure there is always the great second rate bands like, Switchfoot and Lifehouse and the always-a-hit with mi tio has-beens like Donna Summers and my fair favorite KC and the Sunshine Band; Pero don’t forget que tambien hay musica Latina. I’m talking heart-thumping banda pal padrino and latin pop pa tu primita, hola prima.

Things kick off Sunday con Los Tigres Del Norte, followed next Sunday by La Arrolladora Banda El Limón. Julio Iglesis plays Friday june 25^th y Luis Fonsi closes out the fair on Cinco de Julio.  Most conciertos are free with paid admission, con la opcion de upgraded seats. Remember you can park for free off-site and ride the free shuttle in. It’s as fun as un camion al centro, without the annoying singers.
