La Copa Mundial de Fútbol

Every four years the world stops to watch fútbol. La copa mundial  is such a gigantic event que it makes the olimpics look like the CIF playoffs.

Even if you’re not a soccer fan, er-cough–FÚTBOL fan, it’s easy to get struck by fút-fever. With pachangas, viewing parties, and plain ol’dancing infront of your TV to Shakira’s WakaWaka, be sure you know exactly donde en SD estan los biggest reventones, osea the Best places to watch El Mundial in San Diego–incase some one asks you “¿Que Pex?”

MEXICO

Lets cut to the chase, paisas. Tu y tu bandita wanna see Mexico score, upside: they kick off the whole event. Downside: its at 7am (pst). Pero no te agüietes, there is still plenty going on, especialmente if your in the South Bay.

Fiesta Hall in Imperial Beach is usually home to quinceñeras. bautizos and even bodas, que gacho. This year, the hall has found itself on several major blog lists as a top place in the United States to watch the World Cup. Los del salon planean enseñsr all of Mexico’s partidos, including the opener against South Africa. Los dias buenos seran June 11 & 22 (doors open 6am), June 17 (doors open at 10am). Another latino hot spot to open its doors en la madrugada, and where I plan to watch the third game, is Club Caribe en Bonita.  Along with their delicious Caribe comida is an open bar and plenty of screens.  Also in Chula-juana is Agave Grill off of H street. Serving equally as good coffee if you prefer it over Coronas.

ARGENTINA

Pampas Bar and Grill por el 163, is an Argentinean steak house by the Montgomery Airport, and makes some of the best steak found en San Diego. It’s owners, The Hidalgos, hail from a lineage of Argentinean restaurateurs, estan cabrones. The Hidalgos are avid fútbol fans and promise to show support by only showing the Argentina matches. Puerto La Boca en in Little Italy, tambien le va a Argentina y estara abierto for all games starting at 11:30 a.m

AUSTRALIA

Australian Pub mixes margaritas and mimosas a few blocks from the beach in PB, and is the World Cup scene para los verdaderos “Aussie football” fans.

Brazil By the Bay Restaurant and Sports Bar in Point Loma deveras es un autentico lugar Brazileño, hasta me hablan en Portuguese when I go there for dinner.  They will be showing all Brazilian games live as well as other games. Try the Prato Feito y cuidado con esas caipirinha de cachaça. Si te sientes, a little ritzy, dirijete a Rei Do Gado, a Brazilian steakhouse in the Gaslamp Quarter, con cuatro screens dedicadas a La Copa.

ENGLAND

Shakespeare Pub and Grille is a British pub sure to draw a bulk of English soccer extremists. The bar will be charging $10 admission to your tab and capacity WILL be reached, so be sure to arrive early. Este lugar…es NETA, I’ve seen Euro-Fút here before…se pone bien. Tambien le puedes caer al Princess Pub and Grille, in the heart of Little Italy, se va a retacar. Capacity is 129 people, con nueve TVs. A large majority of the games for the World Cup will be shown here, y los de Inglaterra and Mexico serán con ticket.

GERMANY

Kaiserhof es un restaurante Aleman near Sunset Cliffs donde bratwurst, beer and football estan a tu alcanze por todo el bar. All of the Germany World Cup games will be shown here, bueno, no los de early mornings…4 a.m. games, no chinges.

IRELAND

The Field Pub and Restaurant en downtown, will be showing a majority of World Cup games. El pub tiene siete TVs, a pull down projector, y Happy Hour during the games. Hay un chorro de Irish Pubs, a cuadras de esta. If its full simplemente go around the block a otro. Like Dublin Square Irish Pub and Grille en el Gaslamp, que abrira a partir de las 7:00 a.m. and  will be showing all games live on their four large HDTV’s. Tambien esta la Stout Public House, otro Irish Pub in the Gaslamp Quarter…those leprechauns sure can drink. Chupale chupale.

Uno de mis favoritos cafes Café Calabria in North Park es el destino para todo el mundial. Aunque this Italian café will be serving their normal favorites como sandwiches and pastries, tambien estaran showing all games live on their six TVs.

Joao’s Tin Fish Bar and Eatery es un autentico Portuguese Sea Food Restaurant, aunque este un poco escondido dentro el nuevo Liberty Station complex de Point Loma, invitan a todos los Portugal fans. Cheer on Cristiano Ronaldo y los de mas de the world’s third ranked team as they take the field en Sudafrica. Aquí se pone buena la cosa el June 15, 21 y 25.

Costa Brava eth una tapath bar y resthauranthe en Pathific Beach. Prenderan sus six 42-inch plasma TVs y el full-screen projector tempranito. Tambien tendran Spanish-style ‘chocolate churros’ pa’ las cheves en los morning games, athi como en Ethpaña.

Los EEUU

Thats USA en Español, pochos. O’Brien’s Pub admite que van a piriatar every game during the first round of the tournament y hacer replay the early games during lunch. El pub (just under 100 capacity) will be open early and serving breakfast for allU.S. games que presentaran en HD TVs. Lo chido es que when the U.S. grabs a win, a bell sonara and a three-yard glass will be filled and sent around the entire bar, so everyone can sample the sweet taste of victory. Chido.
